Grace Coddington Is Leaving Vogue

After 28 years

0111ILST27-web

Vogue's legendary creative director Grace Coddington has revealed that she is stepping down from her position after almost 30 years. The iconic stylist joined the American publication in 1988 under the invitation of editor-in-chief, Anna Wintour, and the duo went on to form a historic alliance. Coddington will stay on as "creative editor at large," contributing "several" stories a year, but otherwise be exploring other options, such as developing a perfume and public speaking. A Vogue spokesperson confirmed the news by saying  ‘After more than 25 years at American Vogue, Grace Coddington will assume the role of Creative Director at Large and take on additional projects outside the magazine.’ Coddington is reportedly already planning on developing a fragrance with fashion house Comme des Garçons and has already been snatched up by Great Bowery, a representation agency based in New York City, who will be managing multiple aspects of her career. ‘‘It will be nice to collaborate, and nice to go out and give talks to people,’ she said. ‘It’s just another approach. I’m certainly not going into retirement. I don’t want to sit around.”
