Giambattista Valli Spring/Summer 2016 Couture
A tribute to Paris
Italian designer Giambattista Valli who has been living in Paris for the last 18 years, paid a tribute to his adopted hometown with his latest couture collection. The collection made references to four of the city’s great gardens; Bagatelle, Palais-Royal, Luxembourg and the Tuileries and also to the 2013 exhibition “Les Soeurs de Napoléon”, whose catalogue was the inspiration behind the Empire silhouette of some of his dresses. Valli filled the runway with feminine dresses from 60s inspired cocktail dresses to ball gowns, some of those with sleeves and necklines ringed with organza ruffles, and others with beautiful floral embrodieries, in a dreamy color palette of white, black, pale pink, baby blue and yellow. It was couture, it was Parisian couture!
