Shocking Losses at the Menswear Scene
Stephano Pilati from Zegna, Alessandro Sartori from Berluti and Brendan Mullane from Brioni
2015 was the year of departures at the womenswear scene in the fashion industry, but 2016 started to look the same for the menswear with the news of three departures came at a time. The first shocking new came from Ermenegildo Zegna with the departure of one of the most successful designers of our time, Stephano Pilati. Pilati has been the creative director of Yves Saint Laurent’s prêt-à-porter collection between 2004 and 2012 and in 2012 he was appointed as the creative director of Ermenegildo Zegna.
Italian designer of Berluti and former creative director of Ermenegildo Zegna, Alessandro Sartori, who has been with Berluti since 2011, showcased his final collection at Paris Menswear Week and bid a farewell. No successor for the role has been announced, yet.
The British creative director of Brioni, Brendan Mullane who was with the fashion house since 2012, and previously worked for Hermès, Louis Vuitton, Burberry and Givenchy, is parting his ways apart with Brioni.
Shall all these departures worry us, or is this the beginning of a new era? Let’s wait and see.
