Rodarte Fall/Winter 2016
A San Francisco Story
The design duo of Rodarte, Kate and Laura Mulleavy’s inspiration for their Fall/Winter 2016 collection was San Francisco where they attended college at University of California, Berkeley. The duo revisited the grounds including Caffe Trieste where there are pictures of Ford Coppola who worked on The Godfather there, hanged on the walls. With this inspiration, the weddings and funerals that the Corleones attended were reflected on the runway as mixed with each other. Lace, leather and fur were the highly used materials, all making the looks luxurious, glam and also a bit of gothic. It was overall an ode to Art Nouveau romance!
