Rooms That Inspired Oscar de la Renta’s Latest Collection
From Palace of Versailles
While gathering inspirations for Fall 2016 Collection of Oscar de la Renta, the designer Peter Copping got taken by a particular book of photographs; Robert Polidori’s book ‘Chronophagia’. The book features the photos documenting the 30-year renovations of the Palace of Versailles, taken by Polidori. Copping said; “My inspirations came from thinking about the juxtaposition of something modern against something highly decorative,” and reworked the classical 18th-century motifs from the palace in the new collection. Copping also mentioned the Jeff Koons exhibition inside Versailles in 2008, and the famous Battle of Versailles fashion show in 1973 as his inspirations.
