A Lawsuit in Fashion

This time from Yves Saint Laurent

When Hedi Slimane took over as creative director at Yves Saint Laurent, one of his first acts was dropping the “Yves” from the name. Due to the amount of controversy and attention, a Parisian designer created a shirt which stated “Ain’t Laurent Without Yves” and was sold at great retailers like Colette and Kitsune. But the story does not end at the shirt becoming a great hit. Luxury Goods International – the company owning Yves Saint Laurent’s trademark – is filed a suit against “What About Yves” claiming they have violated the trademark infringement. This is not the first time a case like this has happened (remember Hermes, Balmain and Celine?) and probably not the last but stay tuned to see what will happen next.
