Frank Gehry to Design Opera Set in Berlin
An architectural touch
American architect Frank Gehry has made a name for himself with his modern and different take on buildings. Now, the architect is set to become the stage designer of a new production “Orfeo ed Euridice” for Berlin’s Staatsoper – as announced by the company when they unveiled the upcoming season. The 18th century Gluck opera for which Gehry will stage the design will be the premiere production for Staatsoper’s annual Festtage festival at Easter. This will not be Gehry’s first encounter with different fields of art since he has appeared in the Simpsons or has designed a set for Mozart’s Don Giovanni concert in 2003. Stay tuned to see Gehry take over the opera world.
