“An Archive”

The new project by Ai Weiwei

Ai Weiwei has strong opinions about Twitter being a form of art. Having used the platform in multiple ways to protest Chinese oppression, the artist has now printed five years worth of tweets on rice paper for a new piece called “An Archive”. The artwork is presented as a special commission piece from the group show called “Go East: The Gene and The Brian Sherman Contemporary Asian Art Collection” taking place at the Art Gallery of New South Wales. The work might be entirely in Mandarin but one thing is for sure: Ai Weiwei is making a great global statement.
