Celine S/S 2016 PFW

Lingerie meets oversized

celine8k

Celine unveiled Spring/Summer 2016 Ready to wear collection designed by, the label’s creative director,  Phoebe Philo. The venue for Phoebe Philo’s Celine show was clad in sunshine colors in Paris this afternoon: brightest yellow, orange and deep blue. Guests took their seats on raw, hand-carved tree trunks on a sandy floor. The setting was a blithe and very charming sign of the clothes to come.

For the Celine show space, Phoebe Philo commissioned the Danish artist Thomas Poulsen, who works under the name FOS, to create the catwalk space.  Guests carrying invitations with dollops of poured resin puddled over them walked into a venue divided by large sheets of ripstop nylon in orange, blue and yellow hanging from the ceiling rigging. In the show – one of the best the designer has ever produced – there were  a lot of soft satin and black lace dresses like glamorous nightwear; coats with an easy hand-in-pockets stance, a rib-knit waist inserted and a city feeling. The overall effect of models walking in looks that were empowering but also always somehow gentle was hugely inspiring.
