Saint Laurent S/S 2016 PFW

Nineties-nostalgia

saint2k

Today, French-born, Italian-Tunisian designer Hedi Slimane unveiled Saint Laurent’s Spring Summer 2016 collection. This season, irreverent Slimane twinned the sacred Yves Saint Laurent tuxedo — the one that broke-boundaries in fashion and changed gender stereotypes for all eternity — with plain old, rubber boots. The type you dance about in at muddy festivals. Grunge Tiara is the piece that really caught everyone’s attention, and according to the brand's Twitter, it's meant to be "worn with everything," which is fitting, considering that the sparkly headgear accented nearly every look in the collection, save for the silk evening dresses in the finale.

Saint Laurent's spring-summer collection was the Nineties: grunge, mud, warts and all. The collection was Slimane's most exhaustive to date — taking in the glamorous '90s split-leg dress, as well as his signature penchant for the snake and leopard of the Seventies and Eighties, with a fabulous ostrich wrap.
