Damien Hirst’s London Gallery
Opened on Newport Street
The British artist Damien Hirst has opened Newport Street Gallery in Vauxhall, South London. The gallery is made up using three existing Victorian buildings and Caruso St John Architects was responsible from the design. After three years of construction, the 37,000 square-feet gallery with up to 11 meters high ceilings, is now complete as a big modern structure. The gallery's opening exhibition, "Power Stations", showcases the works of one of Britain's most important abstract painters, John Hoyland (1934–2011) and is open to visitors until 3 April. A restaurant called Pharmacy2 is also set to open in the gallery in 2016.
