Meet The New Emoji You Might See In 2016
First look
Every year the emoji language constantly grows, making it increasingly easy to have conversations without ever using text. This week, the Unicode Consortium announced its annual list of potential new emoji to be added in the next edition of Unicode (9.0). For 2016, there are currently 67 candidates. The ones that make the cut will be revealed in May 2016 and will start rolling out the next month. The additional emojis are mainly in the "animals", "food" and "sports" categories, and include a gorilla, a rhinoceros, a baguette, a whisky glass, a rifle, juggling, martial arts and "modern pentathlon", along with gold, silver and bronze medals. These are on top of the original batch of 38 emoji that were recommended for inclusion in the Unicode 9.0 update in May, and include a wilted flower, bacon, a pregnant woman, and several actions such as "face palm", "rolling on the floor laughing" and “selfie”.The new emojis include many interesting ideas but the two we’re looking forward to the most are the croissant and avocado.
