Icon of the Sixties
Dennis Hopper Exhibition at Galerie Thaddaeus Ropac
The American actor and filmmaker Dennis Hopper had turned into also a photographer after James Dean advised him to buy a camera on the set of Rebel Without a Cause. Since then, the actor shot his fellow actors, actresses and artists like Paul Newman, Jane and Peter Fonda, Tina Turner, the Byrds, Jasper Johns, Robert Rauschenber and Andy Warhol. His photography is mostly black and white inspired by the works of Andy Warhol, whom he met in the 60s. Opened its doors on October 21, Galerie Thaddaeus Ropac in Paris hosts a retrospective Dennis Hopper exhibition, titled “Icon of the Sixties” showcasing his photography as well as an experimental film and his personal items. The exhibition will run until January 2016.
