Iris Van Herpen: Transforming Fashion
High Tech meets Traditional Craftsmanship
One of today’s most original fashion designers Iris Van Herpen’s 45 outfits from 15 collections, from 2008 through 2015 has come together for a new exhibition for the first time at Atlanta’s High Museum of Art. Creating designs that push the boundaries between fashion, technology, science, and handcrafts, the designer presents a great selection of her designs, from the 3-D printed Biopiracy dress with silicon coating to Chemical Crows dress made with the ribs of children’s umbrellas, in this new exhibition. The designer said; “In my work I experiment a lot with different disciplines and materials and techniques, and people can really understand in the setting of a museum, because they can go up close and they can see how the pieces are being made. It’s very different than seeing it on a runway or in a photo.” on the exhibition.
“Iris Van Herpen: Transforming Fashion” will be on view at Atlanta’s High Museum of Art from November 7 through May 15, 2016.
